The Aspiring Horseplayer just wants to take a moment to review the whirlwind of activity with regards to our handicapping selections from today’s earlier action at Hollywood Park and Laurel Park.
Starting with Laurel Park, we ended up selecting winners in 8 of the 10 races carded, including 4 top choice winners:
- 1st Race – Fire Hero
- 2nd Race – Clerico
- 6th Race – Crimson Comic
- 10th Race – Benny the Bull
True, none of these were earth shattering selections, but any day you can go 8 for 10 overall with 40% check-marks, you know you’re doing well. Sadly, the pick 4 ticket was burned in race 7. That being said, we did catch a nice long-shot, Angel I B in race 5 paying $22.00 to win.
Moving over to Hollywood Park, we went 7 for 10 with another 4 check-mark selection winners:
- Race 2 – Stefani
- Race 3 – Fantastic Meeting
- Race 6 – Kula Girl
- Race 8 – Curiously Sweet
We faced even tougher love here than at Laurel with our pick 4 tickets. The early pick 4 was bounced in race 1. The late pick 4, which was on the line for a $4k win, was defeated in the final race of the day. Still, we caught the plays of the day in Unusual Suspect, who paid $34.20 to win, and Exquisite Beauty, who returned $22.80. You’ll notice that while I didn’t type any text about Exquisite Beauty, I included her and Unusual Suspect on the pick 4 tickets.
