This KENTUCKY DERBY more so than other past DERBYS will be based on 'trips'. As much as i like THE PAMPLEMOUSSE - doubt a horse can run 1+1/4mile on the front and win as WINNING COLORS did in the past. FLORIDA DERBY will solidify East coast contenders - but have a nagging feeling that some of these horses who have run terrible on artificial and horses who have run awful on dirt - will somehow turn-up near or in the winner's circle on DERBY DAY. SANTA ANITA DERBY likewise will label the legitimate West coast hopefuls - but watch for horses like HOLD ME BACK who obviously like to run off a layoff. ANYWAY WE'LL SEE WHO GETS 'IN' BASED ON EARNINGS. Good luck,

Oh no doubt. They all still have to live up to the hype, and it must be said that likely one (or two) will establish some sort of dominance when all is said and done. The beauty of the '07 crop was that they continued to either improve or essentially hold their form until the end of their respective careers. From Rags early retirement through Curlin being gutsy in the '08 Classic.

They've got big shoes to fill, but we're already appearing much stronger than last year, and there's reason to expect things to get even better.

The Florida Derby should be a solid Saturday race to showcase on ESPN. Can't wait. This weekend's not yet over and I'm already anxious for the next. :)

I need to do more of those link things. I"m a bit lazy with that and totally unworthy when others link back to me.

I'm with you on Imperial Council. Not so much on Win Willy, I think he had the dream pace scenario, which I doubt he'll see again. Disappointed that Jones gave up on Ramon.

I'm reserving judgement on how deep the field is, although I think there are more buzz horses than last year...which as you state can only be a good thing.

Thanks for the link! :)
