lol, tell Rachel I'm glad she knew I was rooting for her!!
I wasn't able to make it to Monmouth, had to get college prep. stuff out of the way, but I went to my friends house to watch it live. I got the whole family converted to major Curlin fans in '07 and now they can't get enough of Rachel Alexandra. Their mother was covering her ears from me screaming so loud as Rachel tore past the wire! It was incredible, I can't believe I'm alive to watch this horse run, It's like a dream from the past come true!!
And yes, you are absolutly right, I am not missing her at Saratoga even if I have to skip class!!

@Zyskander - on the way home I started thinking "what was the most impressive Rachel performance we've seen? The Oaks? Preakenss? Mother Goose? Haskell?" She's doesn't just win...she wins with authority. It's remarkable. Something Calvin said after the race does seem poignant. In the past he's said she was the best horse he's ever ridden, and obviously he still believes that (as do the rest of us), but when asked if we'd seen her ceiling yet, he mentioned that we won't really know how good she is until another horse looks her dead in the eye in the stretch and she has to respond.

Very true...it's just that she has this little habit of running away from everyone by open lengths in the stretch. :-)

@Monmouth Mutt - came darn close to it, but thankfully was able to maintain full bladder control. Actually, in all seriousness, given that I LOVE making those types of videos, I knew I was going to have a shot. Then once I zeroed in on the idea and how to make it all flow, I started feeling pretty good that it might come to fruition.

@Ron - just emailed you back. I'm 99.9% certain that I passed you on the escalator from the clubhouse, as I passed a guy and thought to myself "wow, he looks just like Ron!" :-)

Now for the million dollar question - how do we get in on one of those babies? :-)

@Brian - I've got a feeling you'll be making the journey to Saratoga to see her! We're you at Monmouth today? I couldn't remember if you said you were going to be there or not, but I was looking for you. I knew you were there in spirit even if not in live attendance (Rachel knew too - she told me to tell you after she came back from the race....at least that was my interpretation of the neighing and breathing sounds she was making). :-)

What an incredible effort, I still have shivers running up and down my spine! She is the greatest filly of all time, what hasn't she done that she was asked to do? It's so amazing to be able to watch a horse like this. Rachel Alexandra, best horse in the world and now on to Saratoga and more immortality!!

Kevin, I sent you an e-mail about being at the Haskell and seeing you on the track feed in the press box. Wish I would have known that you were going to be there. I will be in Chicago next weekend for the Arlington Million and then it will be on to Saratoga for a couple of weeks. I'll be there for the Travers. I talked with Jess Jackson and he plans to breed Rachel Alexandra to Curlin, so in a few years you will have a horse to root for that is a cross of both.
