Taraja and With You Could Surprise at Deauville

Zarkamiya and Fuse are the ones to beat in this group 3 for 3-year-old fillies but it could be worth chancing the German raider Taraja at big odds to surprise. Taraja is saddled with a 5lb penalty for a win in a group 3 last time out at Hamburg and although it didn’t look a great race with her grinding down the winner for a half-length win, there could be more to come based on her stout breeding with this step up to one and a half miles looking right up her street. Her previous race against Well Timed, where Taraja finished second reads really well as she was a good winner of the German Oaks next time out. Taraja can be backed at 16/1 each-way.

Alpha Centauri would be a near certainty on quicker ground but todays going which is verging on soft has been a problem for her in the past, running poorly both times on an easy surface.
With You looks the one most likely to benefit if Alpha Centauri fails to run her race and the 6/1 with the UK bookies is a great bet. She wasn’t beaten far in the Prix de Diane and the form of the race is beginning to look really good with plenty of winners coming out of the race behind the winner Laurens. Recoletos has been in great form this season and if he hadn’t run at Ascot he would have been a market leader for this race. One mile of good to firm ground was always going to be a problem having shown exceptional form on softer ground, so today’s softer surface is going to really suit and at 11 on the exchanges he can’t be left out.
