There is no doubt that Zenyatta is the best older female horse on the planet. However, I have seen Rachael Alexander race live at Oaklawn Park (twice) and on TV on many occasions. There is no way that Zenyatta is better than Rachel Alexandra. The only way Zenyatta can be voted the Horse of the Year is if she runs in and wins the BC Classic. Otherwise the Horse of the Year is Rachael Alexandra in a runaway!

Bye the way,When handicapping the Preakness Stakes, I thought this way: It takes a Brilliant performance for a horse to win a race like the Preakness. In my opinion, only two horses in the race had shown that they were capable of running that type of race: Mine That Bird ( in the Kentucky Derby) and Rachael Alexandra (on many ocasions). And I knew that Rachael Alexandra was the better horse. So I bet one ticket in the race. A $1.00 superfecta with Rachael Alexandra first, Mine that Bird second, with all in third and with all in fourth, total cost $110.00 My $1.00 ticket paid a little over $3700.00. It was a GOOD day.

@David,

my apologies, but I somehow missed this when you posted. Man, I feel like a bum for causing you to be$20 in the hole. Hopefully I've made up for that along the way? :)

One of the biggest challenges with blogging my picks (typically the night before) is that I'm human and they change. I don't think anyone should wager on a horse race without getting a decent view of the horse's in the paddock, preferrably live. In this past year alone I've learned to trust my eye more so than my pen. (Damn...that's a good quote....I've got to use that one more often) :)

Would love to hear how you're doing. Again, my apologies for somehow missing your comment months ago.

This is my very first weekend betting on horses and even more exciting, this is my first time today to bet on exacta and trifecta. I knew Old fashioned woudl win and I had a good idea on second place silver city or flat out (dang it), but I used your recommendations and bet the trifecta just as you recommended. I missed it by the dang no 6 horse but I guess this is how it goes. WOW, I am pretty excited to learn how to do this Exotic betting……………………and I appreciate your BLOG. Please keep giving us Naive horse betting people more recommendations in the future. Also, I heard rumors that you could get a calculator to assist in betting more accurately. Can someone please enlighten me regarding the calulator I should research? I came so close………to the trifecta…………..and i bet it twice just as you recommended . Instead of the $250 I would have won except for the dag #6 horse, I ened up in the whole $20 for the day...........lol

Thanks
