I thought this quiz might make a fun filler while I’m away on travels in California. Just click on the link below and answer the questions and your responses will be equated to a legendary thoroughbred. I’m not sure how updated the quiz is so don’t expect to see any of the more recent horses listed in the results.

I came out as : Secretariat (1979 - 1989)
If I had to be a race horse, who better to be than the great Secretariat? “Big Red” won the triple crown in 1973, becoming the first horse to do so in 25 years and setting two all-time track records while doing so. His records in the Belmont* and the Preakness still stand. His run in the Belmont to bring home the triple crown stands as one of the best single performances by a race horse in history. From the official call that day:
“…Secretariat is blazing along! The first three-quarters of a mile in 1:09 and four fifths. Secretariat is widening now! He is moving like a TREMENDOUS machine! Secretariat by 12, Secretariat by 14 lengths on the turn! Sham is dropping back. It looks like they’ll catch him today, as My Gallant and Twice a Prince are both coming up to him now. But Secretariat is all alone! He’s out there almost a 16th of a mile away from the rest of the horses! Secretariat is in a position that seems impossible to catch. He’s into the stretch. Secretariat leads this field by 18 lengths, and now Twice a Prince has taken second and My Gallant has moved back to third. They’re in the stretch. Secretariat has opened a 22-length lead! He is going to be the Triple Crown winner! Here comes Secretariat to the wire. An unbelievable, an amazing performance! He hits the finish 25 lengths in front!”
Here’s a groovy 70’s video of his win in the Belmont. Mind you, the audio/video quality leaves something to be desired to our spoiled modern tastes now.
So who did you come out as? What thoroughbred legend would you be?

This is HILARIOUS. What a find…
Love, War Admiral
I did the quiz and came out as Seabiscut. My horse was so awesome they made a movie about him!
Uh-oh…..we’ve got Seabiscuit and War Admiral….can anyone say “match race?”
I am Secretariat. Nice!
Affirmed checking in here!
Daddy, I took the test and came out as War Admiral!
Of course who else would I be but. . . . Secretariat - lol
Good to see some representation for some of the other thoroughbreds here. Thanks for chiming in Katie, Alan, & Valerie! I see my 3 year old (Randy) has somehow also learned how to type since I’ve been away this week
This got me thinking about another post I’ll have to put together some time…..who would comprise the greatest 10-horse field of all-time? Now that would be rife for some discussion/debate, but I suspect someone’s already been there/done that.
Oh how I wish I was home this week!!!
Interesting quiz, though i don’t know anything about horse race
So, the result says i’m a Man O’war… hahahaha…
Secretariat. Well, I AM the greatest!
But seriously, why was Ruffian not on the list?
I’m not sure, Rain. I just found the quiz online. I’m guessing maybe it only included triple crown winners or something like that.
Ruffian sure is one to love. I posted back to these on your blog as well, but check these out if you get a chance. Some pretty moving Ruffian stuff.

I’m Secretariat too! Hey K, did you know that there is (or was) a racehorse named Moonbeam McQueen? I googled me one day and found it.
Get out of here! Seriously? That’s awesome moonbeam! We’ve so got to find a picture of her.
I found her pedigree chart here:
http://www.pedigreequery.com/moonbeam+mcqueen
She’s got Mr. Prospector and Native Dancer in her blood lines and apparently won over $100,000 in her career.
Her daddy was Miswaki, who produced 97 Stakes winners, including 1991 “horse of the year” Black Tie Affair.
*Sniffle.* I feel so… so regal.
I haven’t been able to find a picture of her yet, but I’m sure somewhere one exists.
Whenever I spot a horse with an obvious name connection like that, you have to at least put $2 on them when they run. I’ve probably mentioned this before, but one day a couple of years ago my wife had a brutal day at work and was in a sour mood when we came home. We were casually watching Hollywood Park during dinner and not really playing. I only had like $10 left in the betting account.
All of a sudden this horse comes on with a name that had something to do with being a “mad lady” or an “upset girl” or something like that. Amy insists that we bet her, but she’s like 90-1. We throw $2 on her at the last second, the horse comes through and pays almost $200 to win. I’m just standing there going “what the……?!?!?!?”
I’d love to find out what Moonbeam McQueen returned to her supporters.
That’s so great! I love those kinds of connections too, although I know nothing about horse racing. I bet the same way though– no logic, just what “feels” right.
I’d love to know that Moonbeam made lots of money for lots of people. It would kill me if she was some slope-backed nag who lost every race.
The knock-kneed muddy colored horse who inspired a nation. A new wave of fame has arisen for this little horse thanks to the new movie out this year. Undistinguished early in his career, he found a new life and new hope. In the aftermath of the depression he inspired people to never give up.
Came out as Sea Biscuit
http://wensonlinebusiness.wordpress.com/
Ah, the biscuit! One of the horses that put California racing on the map. I just posted a rather emotional update on Barbaro here if anyone is interested. Dissfunktional clued me in to a post about his ashes being spread at Churchill Downs and now I’m all emotional. It feels good though. I live to love these horses.
I can’t believe this! I was using google to find some interesting horse pictures, and I see an image linked that I KNEW I created! And then when I follow the link, to find this old quiz?!
To answer questions, Ruffian was not on this quiz because I polled people for their top picks back in 2002 and I believe I was working with limited results. I can’t believe this quiz is still alive and kicking. If I can find my login information I think I’ll be remaking it to include some others that I left out what seems like so long ago!
Wow… just wow! I never imagined!
Blitz - rock on! You should do more quizes - this one was awesome. Can’t wait to see the updates. Very nice to meet you by the way. Good work!
