I agree that he needed a race when he lost to Three Drunks (Tres Borrachos) -and he did get a bad trip (along with Pyro) in the Derby. I also subscribe to the belief that it’s unwise to ever count a Tiznow out of anything (learned that the hard way with Da’ Tara).

By the way – thought of you the other day when I read that War Pass might be retired. Apparently he isn’t healing well and the odds of him returning as a 4-year-old are looking slim. He should get a good stud deal though as a 2-year-old champ.

I think his finish was good considering. He did lose his last race which was back on the dirt. I think he needed one race back as a warm-up. His next race at Saratoga should tell if he will be a great dirt horse.

I’d like to see that in Santa Anita – I”m just not sure the Colonel is that good on dirt after the Derby performance.
