WIFEY TALES --- We wuz at the races and i likes this horse who is 14-1. Da wifey sees him 'biting' the rail [actually cribbing] and convinces me not to bet him straight up or on the exotics. Course the horse wins on top of a $1200.00 trifecta and $300 exacta. NEVER FAILS.

@Sally C - so what you're saying is that you did better than me by not playing the Pick 4, eh? :-)

Sounds like the bionic jockey in that story of yours. I bet he was counting his lucky stars! :-)

@Zyskandar - hunch bets...man, my wife's good for a few of them a year. I still get grief from her about a day that must've been 5 years ago now. She came home from work, had a horrible day at the office, complaining the whole way home. Hollywood happened to be on and there was a horse with a fitting name (it escapes me now), something like 'She's an Angry Lady"...anyhow, the horse is 90/1. Amy wants to put $2 on the horse. I tell her she's nuts and that there's a reason the horse is 90/1.....I'm sure you know how this turns out. Horse wins for fun...darn near a $200 payout. She's celebrating thinking I've bet the horse....only I never clicked the "accept" button on the computer (I did type it in, just never clicked accept).

Nearly the same thing happened at Pimlico about 3 years ago, only this time I managed to launch her $2 bet....only to show instead of win, so we only got about $20 instead of $200.

I hope I've learned my lesson....but then again I've said that about dismissing Tiznows before, haven't I? :-)

well they wouldn't let me place a pick 4 bet before we left for the parade, because the pool wasn't ready or something, and when I got back it was race 11 at Belmont, so I'm not crying in my beer. Always appreciate your thoughtful handicapping. If you could see the goofy races in this area-- on Friday almost all the jockeys were bucked off in the post parade-- one horse actually rolled on his rider but rider was not hurt- how is that possible- rider got back on same evil mule and won the race. Races resume tomorrow in Ridgway Co. Only once a year, probably a good thing!
